E Komo Mai. Welcome. For the first time ever, the Dog & Pony Show has a blog! Here I plan to share some of what goes on back stage: the inspiration, the thought process, the steps to finished art and the influence a special place has on my work. Hawai‘i has played the leading roll in determining the sort of illustrator/artist I have evolved into over the years. It has influenced what I see, how I think and what I draw. Surviving here is not easy. For many, it means putting what one wants to do behind what one has to do. Through a combination of luck and necessity, I have found a way to do the opposite. I believe that could not have happened anywhere else. I hope that this mo‘olelo (story) will inspire, teach and maybe even be a bit of fun and silliness. After all, how serious can you be if you have dogs and ponies in paradise?
